About Us

Cajun Solutions is the brainchild of Luther Lowry, a 12 year veteran of the technology industry.  During his career so far, Luther has worked with projects from Fortune 500 companies, all the way to “mom and pop” shops.  He loves to face a challenge and work with projects that scare away the competition.

Always facinated with computers, Luther began developing websites back in the infancy of the World Wide Web.  His first website (which only recently disappeared from the web) was written back in 1995, just after Netscape Navigator hit the scene.  Quickly, he and several friends attempted to get a Web Development company started, though convincing the world that they needed to move their business to the web was an uphill battle at that time.

Eventually, Luther moved on to work for Interactive Systems International.  Based out of St. Rose, Louisisana, Interactive Systems International worked with some of the biggest firms in town.  While there, Luther worked on the SMART Project.  SMART was a web application that was developed to assist with the testing of off-shore oil platforms to determine whether they were in compliance with the standards set by the Minerals Management Servvice (MMS).  The SMART project was a success, and is currently still being  used for testing in the Gulf of Mexico.   It is now in it’s 4th version.

Luther left Interactive Systems International in 1999 to work briefly on getting Entergy Corporation ready for Y2K.  Most of their corporate billing was still done through old Excel Spreadsheets.  Luther joined the team to convert their corporate billing system over to a much more compliant and robust system.  During his time there, he learned to work with the “Rate Language”, a proprietary scripting system used only for the billing system he worked with.  Once the project was done, well ahead of the Y2K deadline, Luther decided to pull up stakes and move to a cooler climate.

Just before the year 2000, Luther made the trek to St. Louis, Missouri to work for MCI Worldcom, an international telecommunications firm that was one of the top telecom companies at that point, rivaling only AT&T.  During his time there, Luther worked on many projects, mostly for internal use only.  The application he was most proud of, however, was Data Universe.  Data Universe was a data warehousing application that attempted to link as much relevant information together as possible.  While it originally started as a Human Resources tool, eventually other areas of the business we added on, each tying in to the other data currently stored in the system.   The entire application was controlled through a toolbar.  When you logged in, the toolbar would gather the applications from the server that you were allowed access to, and present only those application for you to work on.  The server would always have the latest updates, so you were always working on the latest version of the application.
